The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world containing one fifth of the world’s freshwater and bordering eight different countries. The Amazon River basin is a vast region which is home to one third of the world’s plants and animals, some of which are relatively unknown outside the area.

It is here that you will also find the acai berry. The peoples native to the Amazon basin use nearly 2,000 of the region’s native plants for medicinal purposes - and the acai berry is considered to be one of the most potent of these.

The acai berry has been used locally for millennia, but it was not until around 1990 that it began to be known outside of the area. Nowadays, nearly everyone can take advantage of the acai berry’s incredible health benefits.

Naturally rich in antioxidants, the acai berry contains ten times as many if these compounds as do grapes and twice as many as do blueberries. They also contain fibre, protein and minerals.

The acai berry also contains high levels of anthocyanins; the compounds which give red wines some of their health benefits. The acai berry contains a larger amount of anthocyanins than does wine and is also free of the negative effects of alcohol.

The benefits don’t stop there! The acai berry is listed as an effective anti-aging super food in health food circles and is actually believed to decelerate the aging process. This is presumed to be a joint effect of the anthocyanins and the antioxidants found in the berry.

Acai berries have also been used to prepare wine rich in minerals, to combat schistosomosis (transmitted by snails) and in the preparation of an antibiotic protecting against ‘Staphylococcus aureus’ (an infection usually contracted in hospitals). It is a truly amazing berry.

The acai berry is a little, round, black-purple drupe about 1 inch in diameter. There is a similarity between this and grapes in look and feel. Whilst the immense popularity of this fruit lies in the fact that it provides incredible health benefits the flavour is also simply superb. Perhaps the easiest way to enjoy the benefits of the acai berry is by drinking it as a juice or in smoothies.

Being a lady, I am ashamed to say I am a big beer drinker. Tsingtao beer has to be my favourite. It actually originates from China, but was founded by German settlers in 1903, so I don’t know what you would call it. Is Tsingtao beer German or Chinese?

I always think that a beer is from the place it was produced and that would be China so I guess it is a Chinese beer! Not that it really bothers me, I just drink the stuff!

like Corona, Tsingtao beer is most readily available in bottles instead of on draft. I enjoy a nice frosty pint like the next person, but bottles is fine. In fact when I forst discovered Tsingtao beer in America, it was much safer to be drinking out of a bottle than a glass, for that was the year that drink drugging was a major debate topic. id rather be safe than sorry!

Tsingtao beer is the biggest selling Chinese beer in the United States of America. As it was the most readily available, I started drinking it, and now I’m hooked.

I can really understand why it appeals to so many people. The fact it only has 157 calories to it’s name and that’s great news for people like me who want to stay clear of the beer belly. Such a refreshing drink, can’t go wrong.

Tsingtao beer has a nice crispy, nutty but slightly malty flavour. When me and my friends go to the pub in the evenings, they order whatever is cheapest, I however will always op for Tsingtao beer if it available!

With a population of around 1.26 billion, quite a large figure and the most popular beer is Tsingtao, imagine how many actually drink it. Quite amazing when you think about it, so many people loving the great taste of Tsingtao.

Mountains and desert make up around 2/3s of China, which means lots of very thirsty people and as Tsingtao is so refreshing, it’s a great choice! I am not sure I would want to live in China though, I mean cheap beer is good and it’s a warm place to live but i think i might get lost in such a big country.

It may be best to stay where I am in quaint England, and experience China through the alcoholic beverage known as Tsingtao beer

In many ways, our bodies are like precision machines. They have thousands of intricate parts that work together as a team to make an amazing whole. But like any machine, our bodies need regular fuel and maintenance.

Your body needs to be fueled with the right nutrients in order to run at its maximum capacity. Following good eating habits is important to your overall health, but you also need to be able to sift through the layers of poor information.

There are seven big myths about good eating habits, and here we address them:

1. “You should work out on an empty stomach.” This is definitely a myth. The rumbling in your stomach is trying to tell you something, and it’s not that you need to dash to the gym. Ignore those tummy rumbles and you’re forcing your body’s engine to run on empty. Always be sure that you have a light snack, such as a piece of fruit, before any physical activity.

2. “Energy bars and drinks are good meal replacements.” Wrong again. While these can be fine on the fly or in a pinch, meal replacement bars and drinks are no match for a properly balanced diet. In order to get the antioxidants you need, reach for fruits and vegetables for a boost of vitamins, fiber, minerals and fluid.

3. “Breakfast can be skipped.” Nope. Mom was definitely right on this one, and breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. Give your body the morning charge up it needs to deal with your crazy schedule. Skipping breakfast means you start the day with low fuel, and will feel sluggish and mentally slow all day long.

4. “Low-carb diets provide all the nutrients we need.” Another myth. For temporary weight loss, low-carb diets may work, but in terms of overall good health, they come up short. We need carbohydrates for our very survival, and they start by developing muscle tissue, and storing energy for later use.

5. “Eat what you want, when you want.” If only life were that easy. Just because you’re making some good food choices and exercising regularly, doesn’t necessarily give you license to eat everything you want. Balance is the key. You can’t eat only cheese and no fruit or vegetables and expect to lead a healthy life.

6. “Reduce calories as much as possible.” Losing weight involves both exercise and cutting calories, but if you cut too many, you run the risk of doing more harm to yourself than good. Chop calories gently, targeting one or two pounds per week. If you are losing weight too quickly, add some more fruits and veggies to slow things down.

7. “Skip soda and alcohol.” This is no myth. Good eating habits go hand in hand with good drinking habits. Water, milk, and juice will always be the best beverage choices for active bodies. Drink often, and not only when you feel thirsty. By the time you begin to feel thirst, your body is already close to running on empty.

A good understanding of a balanced diet will help you to make good eating choices. It’s not really complicated, you just have to make a few adjustments, and you will make a big leap toward better wellness. Fuel yourself with good food, and keep your motor running smoothly for a longer life.

If you’re considering a career in bartending, chances are great you’ve heard of professional bartending schools. Just like any other profession, successful bartenders posess a certain skill set. Many procedural skills can be learned from a bartending course, like drink recipes, mixology, and state certifications.

Should you decide to attend a bartending school, you’ll have ample choices. On site and online courses are available in nearly every major city and suburban areas. As you might imagine, some of these schools and courses are better than others, similar to any type of educational institution.

Before you fork over any fees or tuition, here’s a quick guide to questions you should ask. These five questions could very well mean the difference between a successful educational experience or a waste of money.

Five Questions To Ask A Bartending School

1. Will You Help Me With Job Placement? Obviously, if you’re attending a bartending school, you’re in the market for a bartending job. Find out if the school you’re considering established relationships with area employers. This would include large caterers, chain restaurants, and independent bars and taverns. Ask to see job placement statistics.

2. How Long Have You Been In Business? While length of time in business doesn’t always equate to quality, it should give you some indication of the school’s credibility. Also, make sure the school has been certified by the state.

3. How Big Are The Classes And Can I See A Classroom? A school should willingly show you a classroom. Check to see how the classroom is set up … it should look like a bar. Also, the smaller the ratio between students and faculty, the better. You’ll want the individual attention you deserve.

4. Are References Available? You’ll want to actually talk to a recent graduate of the school. Not to be distrustful, but any institution can slap up names and glowing statements about their courses. Ask to speak to someone who is roughly your age and your background. This will give you practical insight into the progression from student to bartender.

5. How Do Your Fees Compare To Other Schools? While cheapest isn’t always best, be sure to compare fees and program components. The key is conducting a bit of research. You don’t want to be overcharged, but keep in mind the quality of the instruction is most important.

Summary

A reputable bartending school can be the launching pad to a lucrative, successful career. But it’s up to you to do the background research. There are many fine bartending schools in every major city. By asking appropriate questions, you’ll learn which is best for you and your personal situation.

A dry red wine is one of the best wines to understand how this delightful tasting red wine is made. As you know, red wines in a variety of flavors, some borders on the taste of a sweeter wine, and some are quite tart tasting. The most important thing to know that the initial flavor of the red wine is directly drawn from the skins of the grapes.

Step one of making a dry red wine is to put it into a grape crusher. You will need a crusher to gently break the skins of the grapes. If you wish to include the stalks of the grapes into the crusher you will need to determine the amount of tannin you wish to have in the red wine being made.

The next step is to put the grapes and the grape skins into a vat for fermentation. This process can take several weeks to complete and it depends on what type of red wine you are making and the ultimate flavor that you wish to achieve. The higher the temperature in the vat will cause more tannin and color to be extracted from the grapes. If you wish to make a softer tasting red wine, then the grapes should be fermented in a sealed vat. The carbon dioxide that becomes trapped in the sealed vats will ferment the grapes under pressure, which speeds the fermenting process to only a few days.

The overall flavor content of red wine is based on how long the wine is in the fermenting process. The fermenting length affects the color and tannin content. The longer the fermenting process takes, generally means that the wine will hold more flavor and color. Dry red wines means that the wine contains very little residual sugar. The natural sugar in the grapes has been converted into alcohol through the fermentation process.

A wine press will be needed to crush the grapes to create a more tannic wine. Winemakers often add free run wine into the tannic wine to give it more body to the blended wine increasing the dryness of the wine.

Next, it is important to take the wine from the wine press and from the wine vat and mix them together. This blended wine adds more structure to the wine. Once the wines are blended together, you will need to do a second fermentation. The second time the process should be longer, as the processing time is needed to bring out the full flavor and quality of the wine. To get the dry red wine, you will need to continue to concentrate on reducing the sugar content of the grapes.

A fine red wine will spend a minimum of one year in the barrel. There are some red wines that will spend a lot more time in the wine barrels - some for several years depending on the type of wine and the final taste the wine maker desires. A good candidate for a longer stay in the barrels is a dry red wine. To stop the yeast and other solids from forming in the wine, egg whites will be added to the wine before it is filtered and bottled.

If you feel that your red wine has had ample time in the barrels, it is now time to bottle and package your wine. Red wines benefits from spending time in the bottle. If you have a simple, uncomplicated wine, it is not necessary to keep the red wine stored long in the bottle. For more complex and complicated wines, buying and holding the wine for a period of time will greatly enhance its flavor.

Here is a great new gift idea for a good friend; individually designed tea baskets. Think about how much you enjoy a tasty and relaxing cup of tea. Think how much you enjoy the ceremony of brewing and drinking a wholesome and refreshing green tea for example. You can get them ready-made but it is more joy to tailor them to the receiver.

I like to make my own gift baskets for my friends and family because they have a much more personal feel to them. You can combine any number of personal items that really have sentimental value. You can add a bit of humor in the tea gift basket as well. As long as you consider the personality of the recipient you are sure to please.

My favorite tea gift basket that I created was for a friend who is always on one diet after another. She really doesn’t need to be. I really think that she just diets for something to do. I created a great tea gift basket with a humorous twist for my dieting friend. The arrangement took no time at all to make. In fact, the concept took me longer to develop than the actual tea gift basket.

She was very appreciative of all my efforts and is now really into green chai. So much so in fact, that she is doing similar baskets for all her buddies in the aerobic class.

Another great tea gift basket idea is to work with flavors. If you know someone who loves fresh fruit why not combine some of her favorite fruits with some fruit flavored teas. This makes a wonderfully healthy present that any fruit lover would appreciate. Some fruity cookies wouldn’t hurt in this arrangement, either.

For a friend who is a young geography teacher I used the very popular chai teas, some maps and information on the points of origin of the teas to make his tea experience an intellectually challenging pleasurable rite. It was avery oriental looking gift that gave him a great lesson idea for sharing with his students.

If you know someone who likes a nice pick-me-up in the morning you could make a tea gift basket that is filled with breakfast blends. Add some gourmet pancake mix and some syrup and you have a great present. On the other hand, you can make a bedtime arrangement that includes bath oils, candles and chamomile teas.

There are endless options when it comes to making a personal arrangement like this. All it takes is a little creativity and you can make the perfect tea gift basket.

When it comes to wine, it is best consumed with friends and family. The very nature of tasting can also be a chance to learn and compare experiences with others. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the wine tasting party.

A wine tasting party may just sound like a good time, but it actually has a purpose. The goal is to compare a number of wines and discuss the merits, or lack thereof, with the other people who are involved in the sampling.

In truth, a wine tasting party is a good time no matter how you do it. If you actually would like too really compare wines instead of just having a good party, there are a number of steps you should consider taking to make things a success.

You are going to need people to actually do the tasting. I recommend that you select friends who have roughly the same level of wine knowledge. This will result in a more balanced comparison versus involving experts with beginners.

There is a second issue with your tasters. Specifically, how many do you invite? The ideal number has proven to be six total. This allows for the tasters to all sit around a table, do some tasting and then discuss the wine without having to yell.

The actual wine you taste is also something to give some thought to. Pick a theme. You might pick reds from a particular region or whites from a particular year. It does not really matter, but try to restrict it in some way so useful comparisons can be made.

Hosting a wine party is simple because the guests are required to bring much of the schwag. No host has 40 or 50 wine glasses or bottles. Each guest must bring one bottle of wine and enough glasses for themselves or they cannot participate.

Keeping notes of your wine drinking escapades is smart move. You want to recall what made you smile and that made your eyes water. Nomad Wine Journals are about the best for note taking, but anything will do so long as you use it.

The point of the tastings is to determine which wine tastes good alone, not with cheese or other food. While the tastings are occurring, there should be no food on the table. You want to isolate the taste of the wine. You can eat later.

Okay, now we get to an odd subject. You are going to need spit cups. During tastings, the wine should not be swallowed. You are trying to determine the taste, not the alcohol content. Paper cups should work just fine.

Drinking wine with friends is fun, so do not stress too hard over the finer points of the wine tasting process. Just make sure to take notes so you remember the vintage you preferred the next morning!

Whether you have a large or small wine collection, you’ll need one or more wine racks. Wine racks have gone beyond simple storage solutions in recent years - they’re often an intergral part of home decor. Before you purchase your first or next wine rack, here are a few factors to consider.

The first issue to consider when considering wine racks is how many bottles you’d like to store. Wine racks come in all shapes and sizes, from table top models to huge multi hundred bottle models. Some wine collectors use multiple smaller wine racks to organize and segment their wine collections.

Your decorating preferences and personal style will also come into play. Do you want to wall mount your wine rack, or is a table top wine rack sufficient? Do you prefer your wine rack situated discreetly in a corner, or would you prefer a centerpiece stylish addition to your home? Wine rack options are plentiful, so consider form and functionality.

Another aspect of decor to consider is texture. Wine racks come in a variety of compositions, like steel, aged wood, brushed metal, brass, and more. Choose one that fits seamlessly into your style and home decor.

Since wine is an important part of our entertaining friends and colleagues, a multiple use, stylish wine rack is perfect for our home. We chose a focal point “wine center” that beautifully combines storage for our wine bottles, wine glasses, wine accessories, and wine art. Further, our wine center is a warm and welcoming focal point in our living room.

Many wine lovers prefer wooden wine racks, as they’re easiest to blend in with most decors. Wooden wine racks come in a variety of wood styles, so your choices are numerous. We prefer an aged wood look to a wine rack, mostly because of the similarity to wooden wine barrels and the winery atmosphere.

Wine racks are available in numerous price points, from under $30 to several thousand dollars. Most wine collectors own more than one wine rack, both for storage and convenience reasons. We prefer one central wine storage center, and a smaller wine rack for some of our purchases on our U.S. wine trails travels.

No matter your choice of wine rack, don’t be afraid to have fun and experiment. That’s half the fun of wine drinking! Come to think of it, that’s half the fun of home decor too!
